Halifax Is Burning :: S03E05

Gather round radio listeners - I've got some fun stuff for you!

On February 1 (Tuesday), CKDU turned 26 years old! Halifax Is Burning celebrated the station's silver anniversary+1 by playing some classic Halifax indie rock and taking a look back at some past programmers who have gone on to be Halifamous.

One such individual is Jay Ferguson, from the seminal Halifax rock institution Sloan. Between 1986 and 1989, Jay hosted a show on CKDU called Brian Wilson's Deluxe Sandbox. I caught up with him on the phone to reminisce about his good ol' days on community radio.

PS - I realize there's lots of classic Halifax tracks I didn't play, namely some stuff by bands like Hardship Post, The Flashing Lights, The Heavy Blinkers, Burnt Black, etc etc - but the show's only an hour long! Hopefully in the future I can piece together another retrospective.

For now though, have a listen to this week's episode!
