Halifax Is Burning :: S03E28

On a special two-hour edition of Halifax Is Burning this week, I was fortunate to host an event called The Sappy Warm-Up: two hours of live music, interviews and conversations about Canada's coolest festival - SappyFest - taking place this weekend in Sackville, NB.

Two great bands from Halifax headed to Sackville to perform at Sappy - Long Weekends and Quaker Parents - stopped by the station for a festival primer and a free lobby show. On top of that, my good friend Pinky was in studio as my co-host, and I had a phone chat with one of Sappy's founders, Paul Henderson, about the evolution of the festival. Oh, and he also let's the cat out of the bag and tells me all the juicy details about this year's very special, very secret guest appearance.

Take a listen.

Halifax Is Burning :: S03E27

For the first time in the history of Halifax Is Burning, I hosted a live band this week in the studio! I couldn't think of a better band to come in and kick-start the summer season than Halifax's The Graboids.

Fresh off the release of their latest EP, Aftershocks, The Graboids brought their fun-loving, quick-to-the-punch punk rock to the CKDU airwaves.

Didn't tune in on Tuesday? Have no fear...the podcast is here!

Halifax Is Burning :: S03E26

I suppose a lot of people are lacing up their Metallica kicks here in Halifax this week, but despite another huge concert that may, or may not, add fuel to the fire to the ever-growing concert debacles that plague our city, the independent scene still kills 'em all.

On yet another episode of Halifax Is Burning, I delve into sixty minutes of Haligonian greatness.

Check it out.
